Entry Requirements

  • At least 15 years old as of 1st January of the exam year.
  • Applicants should also possess one of the following entrance requirements:
    • Completed Sec 3 Express with at least D7 grades in English & Mathematics
    • A credit in a Science subject if s/he opts for a related Science subject.
    • Completed 'N' (Academic) Level with passes in English and Mathematics.
  • Private candidates are allowed to take a maximum of 9 subjects but our preparatory course is a package of 5 subjects.

About the Preparatory Course for GCE 'O' Level

  • The Preparatory Course for GCE O Level prepares students for the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination which is conducted in Singapore annually in October and November.
  • It is offered as a package of 5 subjects.
  • The subjects offered in Academic Year 2011 are as follows:
    • COMPULSORY SUBJECTS FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS (4 subjects)
      • English language (Subject Code: 1127)
      • Mathematics (Subject Code: 4016)
      • Science (Physics, Chemistry) [Subject Code: 5016] OR
        Science (Chemistry, Biology) [Subject Code: 5118]
      • Business Studies (Subject Code: 7085)
    • Choose ONE ELECTIVE from the following:

  • Only compulsory subjects are taught at the centre where students are enrolled for.
  • Electives are conducted at selected centres and students need to attend classes at those selected centres without exception.
  • Parents are reminded that when they enrol their children at BMC, they must comply with BMC's Rules and Policies.
  • Private candidates sitting the GCE O Examination are required to observe and comply with all instructions and regulations governing the examinations that are stated by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB). By registering for the examinations, a candidate confirms that he/she has read, understood and expressly agree to accept the instructions and regulations imposed by SEAB.

Attendance & Discipline

  • ALL students must maintain an average attendance of 90%.
  • Male students who have been given deferment from national service whose attendance falls below 90% will have their deferment cancelled and their names submitted to the Ministry of Defence to serve full-time national service.
  • International students who fail to meet the 90% attendance will have their names submitted to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority. Their student's passes may be revoked and they may have to return home immediately.
  • Students whose attendance falls below 90% are not allowed to sit for any internal tests.
  • Students who are absent will need to attend counselling sessions with our in-house counsellor. Attendance is compulsory.
  • Students who are late for more than 3 times will be counselled and repeat offenders will be suspended for ONE week. As a last resort, the school may expel such students.
  • Students who are absent and have been given medical leave by a registered medical doctor must submit their medical certificate to the office when they come back to school.
  • SMOKING IS STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOL PREMISES. If you are caught you will be asked to stop smoking and attend counselling session.
  • SMOKING BREAKS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
  • EATING OR DRINKING IS NOT ALLOWED IN ALL CLASSROOMS.
  • The school reserves the right to expel students whose presence the school feels may be detrimental to our students' and staff's well-being.

Terms and Conditions

  • All students are expected to register for their GCE 'O' Level Examination online at www.seag.gov.sg. The Examination Registration Period will be published on our notice boards as well as website. The Ministry of Education will usually publish the Examination Registration Period at all MRT and LRT stations.
  • Students who require an NS Deferment letter from the school must ensure that they attend School regularly and that they must take up our TWO-INSTALMENT PAYMENT SCHEME. Approval of NS Deferment is at MINDEF's discretion. These students must attend classes at either Bukit Merah or Dhoby Ghaut centre.
  • Certain courses are conducted at selected BMC centres.
  • Afternoon (PM) session courses are conducted at our Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Merah and Joo Chiat centres.
  • BMC reserves the right to cancel/combine/re-schedule classes or replace teachers as it sees fit.
  • All international students must attend the Single Session classes at either our Bukit Merah or Dhoby Ghaut centre.
  • If you do not subscribe to our School rule including merging of classes and changing the venue of classes, you do not have to enrol with us.
  • Course fee does not include textbooks, examination and other Student Activities.
  • Only Singaporeans under 21 years old attending full time courses are eligible to apply for Student EZ-link Card. However it is subject to Transit Link's Approval.
  • All students are required to enter into a contract with BMC and must agree and sign the Standard Student Contract.
  • All fees paid will be protected under the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) unless otherwise stated. For more information on the FPS visit the Council for Private Education's website at www.cpe.gov.sg.
